Make Your Foreign Transfers with the Ziraat Guarantee!

Foreign transfers may be made at any one of our branches using SWIFT or Western Union.

(Details on Western Union are provided in the Western Union section.)

The account number / IBAN (International Bank Account Number) of the recipient is necessary for foreign transfers other than to our own branches and affiliates.

The details below must be provided accurately and in full for your transfer to take place without delay and for payment to be made to the recipient. This information may be provided using the Foreign Currency Transfer Request Form.

Necessary elements for a transfer

  • Sender Name and Surname
  • Sender Address and Telephone Number
  • Recipient Name and Surname
  • Recipient Address
  • Recipient Account Number / IBAN
  • Recipient Bank Name, Code (Fedwire, BLZ, Sort Code etc.), and SWIFT code

Where the net amount is to be delivered to the recipient, the receiving bank charges are also paid by or deducted from the account of the sender in addition to the transfer charge stated above.

Details of our foreign branches to which transfers may be made without the account number of the recipient, are found on our The Nearest Ziraat page.

Details of affiliate banks to which transfers may be made without the account number of the recipient are found on our Information page.

About IBAN

The IBAN (International Bank Account Number) system in use by European Union member states was adopted by Türkiye on September 1, 2005. On that date transition was made to the IBAN system and IBAN transfers started to directly reach customer accounts at our branches.

Providing an IBAN on transfers sent to our bank is of great importance in the speed and security of the service we provide to our customers.

  • IBANs  are comprised of 26 characters, including the TR affix.
  • If you do not know your IBAN, apply to your nearest branch.

Open a Ziraat account with a foreign transfer

It is possible for an account to be opened upon a transfer originating from any bank abroad.

The transfer order should specify that the transfer is to open an account, in which currency the account is to be denominated (TL, USD, EUR etc.), whether the account is to be a current or time deposit account (1 month, 3 month, 6 month, or 1 year), and the branch name / code at which the account is to be opened.

With respect to the transfer sent,

  • A photocopy of the passport page displaying ID details
  • Republic of Türkiye ID number
  • Address details
  • Telephone number, and
  • The maiden name of the sender's mother must be provided for an account to be opened.

After the transfer has been sent, the above information and documents should be attached to a letter bearing an original signature requesting that the account be opened, and posted to the branch at which the account is to be opened.

Postal addresses of our branches are found on our The Nearest Ziraat page.

Charges

The charge on transfers sent from abroad is the charge demanded by the sending bank in its own right. Transfers are registered on the account in the amount of funds sent, with a commission charged at the rates detailed under the Banking Service Commission heading at the time that the customer wishes to effectively take receipt of the transfer.

Where transfer recipient requests to take receipt of the TL equivalent of the transfer, or where transferred funds are withdrawn as foreign currency after remaining at our bank for 21 days following the transfer date; no commission is charged.

Where the transfer is recorded as payable in the net amount, effective payment commission is charged to the sender instead of the recipient, and is paid by the sending bank.

FOREIGN CURRENCY CHECK TRANSACTIONS

Equivalent amounts of travelers' checks made out in convertible foreign currencies or checks drawn on our bank are cashable at all our branches upon presentation. Personal and cashier checks are accepted at our branches, with the amount paid to the customer after the funds have been credited at the correspondent bank.

Travelers' checks are not sold by our bank.

Foreign currency checks may be requested at all our branches. Receipt may be taken of the check on the same day at authorized branches and within a few days at other branches.

FAST USD CHECK COLLECTION

Our bank's integration with the USA Check 21 System allows us to perform collection transactions on foreign bank checks arranged in USD with banks in the United States.

As the first bank in Türkiye to implement this system, Ziraat offers its customers an important advantage in the reduction of collection times of foreign bank checks arranged in USD with banks in the United States.
